Stephen was a fantastic bartender. I ordered a cocktail off the menu to start which was delicious. But where he really got to shine was when I felt indecisive about what sort of absinthe drink I wanted; he asked what sort of spirit I'd like it with and when I said I enjoyed whiskey with notes of vanilla and caramel, he came back not long after with a perfectly crafted Sazerac. It's my new favorite drink and this is my new favorite bar. Too bad I live 2000 miles away. Tldr; Stephen is great. I strongly recommend this bar. Ask them to craft you something. Venture outside the cocktail menu. Let em have some fun.

Great low key spot for an amazing cocktail. Relatively quiet setting with dim lighting. Expansive selection of all different spirits. Friendly and knowledgeable bartenders. This is consistently the first stop of Friday night date night.

This bar is cute and the drinks are so good! Live music is delicious and the drinks have good prices. Hot toddy was soooo good. Love this spot.

Great cocktails and the staff is excellent. I did a 'surprise me' and the bartender made an outstanding cocktail based on my taste profile. Fun spot

I hate to share this place since it’s a local gem, but there was a group of racist individuals in there tonight (Super Bowl) disrupting the vibe. The bar (as usual) was a pleasant place, locals gathered, and one guy was disrupting all of it, in a maniacal way, then he and his friends turned completely racist and the police had to be called. The bartender and crew tried to be polite, tell them to calm down, but it escalated quickly and the police had to be called and bouncers from next door, enlisted. The man in question (white guy, grey hair) was out of control, and referred to a bar back as ICE - which was not only racist; but out of hand. Everyone in the bar was enjoying the night, the game, each other, and this guy and his friends were drunk, out of hand, and completely out of line. In Utah, you do not have bouncers and normal back up like other states. People (here) are put in tough situations, especially in a gun state, they have to try and protect and gauge a situation in a moment - it’s not fair - the team didi the best they could to de-escalate but the white-haired man and his NY friends were out of line, unwelcome, and frightening. I’m from the east coast, and they were awful, out of line,, and ruined an otherwise happy occasion. BarX crew - good on you for trying to protect us and keep the Super Bowl tradition alive and positive.

Came early on a Saturday. Very chill vibe. Their spirit selection is on point!! My test for any bar is if they can make a decent Manhattan and they killed it. Double rye High West Whiskey. Music could be a bit more varied but not bad (think hip hop chill). Deff worth a stop

Such a good vibe, nice and dark with old movies on the tvs and music just loud enough. Bartenders are crazy good at handling volume and making the best cocktails in salt lake—without exorbitant pricing. Knowledgeable and capable staff, treat them right and they’ll treat you right.

Stopped in for a quick drink, ended up ordering fries too. Music was on point — a little old school hip-hop. They had Espolon tequila and I could order a drink and not need a seat at the bar… need I say more?

My husband and I absolutely love coming here! Everyone is friendly, from the staff to fellow customers. And no one is better cocktails and cocktails than the bartenders here. An oasis from the insanity that is our country atm. Just go there, you'll see.

I live in Tucson, and I was looking for a bar with a great vibe, while I was here in SLC. Bar-X did not disappoint! Julie is an amazing bartender, cocktail officianado, and you can tell she loves this place! I told her it reminds me of a place in Tucson called The Shelter, because both bars play old movies on TV screens, and they both have great vibes! Bar-X is also connected to Beer Bar, which has the grill and supports larger groups and has screens for sports. Great pairing! I'll just say "Come to the Bar-X side!" 😎
